Rockets’ have strong showing in Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Toledo women's rowing team competed in the Yinzer Cup in Pittsburgh, Pa., the squad's second competition of the season. The event was hosted by Robert Morris on the Ohio River.
The Rockets saw action against other Division I opponents Canisius, Marietta, Mercyhurst and Robert Morris.

The B boat finished in fourth with a time of 17:51.449 while the C boat took fifth with a mark of 18:43.314. In the Novice 4+, the Toledo A boat led the way and took first with a time of 10:42.323.
Quoting Head Coach Chris Bailey-Greene
"The team today did very well. Our depth was on display, I think that's what the fall season, in a lot of ways, is for - to show each team's increasing depth. Our team has almost doubled in size within the past year and will continue to build as we grow into next year. With our youth and growth, there is always a bit of a learning curve, but they executed well, went down the course, and continued to elevate their standard and perform highly today.
"Overall, taking second in the Varsity 8+, and with the B boat taking third overall and placing themselves ahead of other team's top Varsity 8 boats is a huge accomplishment, especially in our second year. Our four boats also did very well and put themselves in a position to be successful, especially as we are not at our full depth. There was a lot of positivity and great vibes today as our athletes looked to execute down the course.
"The Novice 4 crew had a great race today as well. It was awesome to see everyone cheering on their teammates and continue to grow on and off the water. Toledo has a lot of positivity on the horizon and we're looking forward to continuing to grow the program.
"We have a test coming up next weekend, especially as we will take on some Mid-American Conference opponents in Philadelphia, but we are looking forward to seeing where we stack up against our league members."
Up Next
Toledo will return to action at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia, Pa. on Saturday, Oct. 24. The Rockets will take on Mid-American Conference opponents at the event.
