Â
Perks:
We are ultimately looking for those ready to make an immediate impact! Succeeding on this team will require an athlete to be self-motivated, driven, team-orientated, and coachable. No prior rowing experience is necessary, as we’ll provide all the training and education needed. Our goal is to evaluate each person holistically and take whomever we believe can be a great teammate and contributor to our program.
Â
Schedule:
Our largest tryout process is in the fall, usually starting the second week of school and lasting 3-4 weeks as a group. If you get involved any other time through the year this timeframe may be modified and selection is based on roster size, clearance, and development potential. The walk-on practices will be from 6-8:30 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays during the tryout period, and will shift to the following schedule after selection.
Â
Once we begin the tryout period, we will begin medical and eligibility clearances. Each individual will be notified through email and can either accept or deny the invitation in person.
Fall races begin in late September and run through mid-November at the latest.
Winter training shifts from 20-hour practice max to 8 hours max during December. All winter training will be in the erg room and will include erging, circuits, cross training, and yoga.
In the spring, the practice schedule will return to the schedule provided above. Spring races usually begin late March and go through conference championships in mid-May, with the NCAA championships at the end of May. If we make the NCAA championships, that will automatically make us top 22 in the country, earning us the title of most improved team in the country. How cool would it be to take a team from scratch to top 22!
