The Rockets (12-15) took a 3-0 lead after two innings, but the Buckeyes (14-13) responded with five runs in the fourth inning. The Rockets fought back to tie the game in the sixth, but Ohio State regained the lead in the sixth and put three more on the board on the seventh to extend its advantage and put the game out of reach. Ohio State capitalized on 10 walks and three Toledo errors.

Junior Charlie Scholvin led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs to mark the 13th multi-hit game and seventh multi-RBI game of the season for Scholvin. Junior Cole Cahill was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Five different Rockets scored runs on the evening.
