Toledo wins its third MAC series and improves to 8-3 in conference play

Five different Rockets (12-13, 8-3 MAC) had RBI hits during the seven-run outburst, including Luke Walton's two-run home run. The Rockets cruised the rest of the way to claim their third series win of four Mid-American Conference series this season. Toledo has won eight of its last nine MAC series, dating back to last season.

Eight different Rockets got in the hit column, led by multi-hit bids from Jacob Payne, Saborn Campbell and Charlie Scholvin. Troy Sudbrook and Walton each had two RBIs. Seven different Rockets scored runs, including Sudbrook, who scored the 100th run of his career.

Freshman Hayden Frey (2-0) pitched a steady five innings, allowing one run on five hits, and striking out two to one walk. Michael Fliss earned the save, pitching the final four innings, allowing just two runs and striking out six.

The Rockets and Zips will conclude the series tomorrow at 1:00 p.m, with Toledo looking for its second sweep of MAC play this season.
