Six Rockets made their UT debuts on Thursday
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Toledo softball team dropped a pair of games to open the 2026 season on Thursday at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz. The Rockets fell to Arizona State, 4-1, and dropped an 8-2 decision to Texas State in the final game of the day.
Six Rockets made their Toledo debuts on Thursday, including freshmen Lexi Johnson and Olivia Signorino who earned starts against the Sun Devils and the Bobcats, respectively. Johnson threw five innings and gave up four runs in her first collegiate action while Signorino gave up three runs against Texas State.
In the Arizona State contest, five players tallied hits and Aubrey Hensley knocked in her first career RBI after earning the start at catcher. Junior transfer Katie McDonald made her first UT appearance in the circle, tossing one inning and giving up one hit in relief.
Audrey Miller led the offense against Texas State, tallying two hits for her first multi-hit game of the season and chipped in a run. Samantha Bolding and Jenna Bloomfield drove in the Rockets' two runs. Junior Mady Yackee threw five innings in relief and allowed five hits.

How it Happened
at Arizona State
- The Sun Devils struck first, scoring two runs in the bottom of the third for a 2-0 lead.
- UT responded in the top of the fourth with an RBI single from Aubrey Hensley to cut ASU's lead in half, 2-1.
- ASU tacked on two more runs in the fifth to double their lead, 4-1.
- Jayleigh Thomas earned a walk in her pinch hitter appearance in the top of the seventh, but the Rockets were unable to send any more runs home.
- An RBI single from Jenna Bloomfield gave UT the early 1-0 lead in the first. Texas State responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 3-1 lead.
