Cole Cozens rolls to his seventh singles victory in last eight contests
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over Fordham at Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Toledo, Ohio on Sunday afternoon.
The Rockets (5-6) started the match off strong, recording the doubles point on the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles court. Joshua Mackey and Alejandro Gonzalez combined for a 6-3 victory on the No. 3 doubles court, moving their overall record to 6-0 throughout the dual season. Lucas Britez and Poonthong Komolpisut combined for a 6-1 win on the No. 2 doubles court to take an early lead.
UT earned the first three wins throughout singles play to clinch the match victory. Junior Cole Cozens recorded his third-straight singles win and his seventh victory in his last eight matches with a 6-2, 6-3 decision on the No. 3 court.
Freshman Pannawat Suttisomboon earned a straight-set victory on the No. 6 court as Britez clinched match point with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 win on the No. 2 court. The Rockets' final point of the contest came from junior Poonthong Komolpisut earning a three-set win on the No. 1 court to earn his fifth win of the dual season. Fordham tallied wins on the No. 4 and 5 singles courts to earn their only points of the match.
