Cole Cozens and Matias Olivero tally singles wins in both matches as UT splits home doubleheader
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team picked up a 5-2 win over Wayne State and dropped a 4-3 decision to Youngstown State in non-conference action at Shadow Valley Tennis Club on Friday.
Junior Cole Cozens and senior Matias Olivero earned singles wins in both contests on the No. 3 and No. 4 courts, respectively. Cozens tallied a 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 win against the Penguins and a 6-4, 6-3 victory against WSU. Olivero competed in his first matches of the season, posting a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win over YSU and a straight-set win vs. Wayne State.
Against the Warriors, UT recorded the doubles point after winning on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. In singles play, Alejandro Gonzalez and Poonthong Komolpisut joined Cozens and Olivero with wins to help the Rockets pick up the match victory.
