Football opens home season with "The Biggest Party in Toledo" while men's and women's golf open up their fall campaigns

The Rockets open the Ali Green era this week at Purdue's Boilermaker Classic on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 1-2. Toledo has three returnees from last year with sophomores Valeria Lizcano, Brookyln Millard and Emily Young and added two transfers and one freshman to its roster. The Rockets will be competing against a pair of Top 50 programs from last year – #16 Ole Miss and #42 Purdue – as well as MAC counterparts Ball State and Kent State.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

The women's soccer team finishes its homestand with a matchup against Detroit Mercy at Paul Hotmer Field on Thursday, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Rockets (2-1-1) are coming off a 3-0 victory against St. Francis on Sunday in a dominating effort, getting goals from Sydney Hardesty, Cameron Cole and Morgan Spitler. The Rockets will go for their third-straight victory on Thursday. The contest will also feature Hawaiian Night: End of the Summer Party. Fans can receive Hawaiian leis at the match to celebrate the end of the summer.

MEN'S GOLF

Toledo opens its season under ninth-year head coach Jeff Roope by competing in Tennessee's Visit Knoxville Collegiate with one of the strongest fields it will face this season. The 17-team field includes five schools – No. 4 Ole Miss, No. 8 LSU, No. 10 Florida State, No. 23 Georgia Tech, and No. 25 Tennessee – that were ranked in the Top 25 of Scoreboard Clipped rankings. Sophomore Bence Bertenyi is the Rockets' leading returner with a 73.2 stroke average.

Women's Volleyball continues non-conference competition at the Comfort-Inn Vitational on Friday, Sept. 5-Saturday, Sept. 6 hosted by Morehead State in Morehead, Ky. The Rockets will face Morehead State, Radford and UIC. Toledo opened up the Brian Wright era by going 3-0 in the season opening tournament at Savage Arena. Redshirt sophomore middle blocker Sierra Pertzborn led the Toledo offense, totaling 28 kills and adding 17 total blocks while senior setter Kelsey Smith is averaging 9.00 assists/set.

Football returns to the Glass Bowl for the 2025 home opener against Western Kentucky in the "Biggest Party in Toledo" on Saturday. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN+. Tickets are still available for Saturday's matchup. Rocket fans will get to experience new gameday promotions for the 2025 season, along with returning favorites, including live music and the Beer Garden in Lot 10, and the Brown Honda Kids Zone at its new location at the Varsity Tennis Courts.
