Rockets Battle to Series Win Over Bowling Green with Doubleheader Sweep

Toledo dominates for 8-3, 8-1 victories to win third-straight MAC series

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team dominated a rivalry doubleheader with a pair of victories against Bowling Green to win the Battle of I-75 weekend series at Scott Park on Saturday.

The Rockets (22-26, 12-12 MAC) swept the doubleheader with 8-3 and 8-1 victories to claim their third-straight MAC series and go 7-2 in their last nine MAC games. Tied at 2-2 in Game 1, the Rockets strung together two-run innings in the fifth, sixth, and seventh, plenty enough to put away the Falcons (30-16, 17-10 MAC). Toledo took a 4-0 lead by the end of the third in game two to cruise to victory, with the pitching staff limiting the Falcons to just three hits.

The Rockets claimed their first series win over their arch-rivals since 2021. The sweep moves Toledo into fifth place in the MAC standings with six league games remaining. The top six teams qualify for the MAC Tournament.

Quoting Head Coach Rob Reinstetle
"I can't put into words how proud I am of these guys. We certainly didn't play our best baseball last night, but came back today and did. The pitching was dominant all day, and we built innings to have a very productive offensive day. This is a huge weekend series win that puts us in good shape for the MAC Tournament, and most importantly, we won the Battle of I-75."
