Luke Walton extends seven-game hitting streak

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team hung close throughout the game, but dropped the series finale, 5-3 to East Tennessee State at Scott Park on Scott Park.

The Rockets (18-25) fell behind 4-1 in the fifth inning, but pulled within a run in the sixth. However, the Buccaneers (30-12) added an insurance run in the seventh inning and the bullpen held off the Rockets across the final 3.2 innings.

How It Happened

The Buccaneers got on the board first with a two-run triple, capping off three-straight hits with two outs in the third.
Charlie Scholvin drove home Troy Sudbrook with a two-out double in the fourth to cut the deficit in half to 2-1.
After two walks, the Bucs tacked on two more in the fifth on a just-fair double for a 4-1 lead.
The Rockets got back-to-back doubles from Luke Leto and Kaleb Herbert in the sixth. Then, Herbert came around to score on back-to-back groundouts.
An RBI single extended ETSU's lead to 5-3 in the seventh.
Toledo put runners on first and second with one out in the bottom of the ninth, bringing the winning run to the plate, but a strikeout and flyout ended the game.
