Toledo Plays Midweek Matchup at Youngstown State, Akron in Home Weekend Series

Rockets look to pick up conference wins at Scott Park this weekend
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team will go on the road for a midweek matchup, taking on Youngstown State on Tuesday, April 1, and then return home to face Akron for a Mid-American Conference weekend series on April 4-6. First pitch against the Penguins will be at 5:00 p.m., with the Akron games beginning at 3:00 on Friday and 1:00 on Saturday and Sunday at Scott Park.

Toledo (9-17, 4-8 MAC) grabbed a road victory at Purdue Fort Wayne on Tuesday, but was swept in the weekend series at Kent State. In the victory over Purdue Fort Wayne, Brennan McCune
pitched 3.0 innings, only allowing one run with two strikeouts for his second win of the season. RJ Shunck also threw 2.0 scoreless innings, tallying four strikeouts. In Friday's game against Kent State, Brady Sasse threw 4.0 innings in his second career start, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out six. At the plate, Troy Sudbrook led Toledo last week, hitting 5-for-15 with four RBIs, one run scored, a double, and two walks.

Youngstown State (4-22, 2-7 Horizon) lost to Bowling Green in a midweek game before dropping all three contests against Wright State over the weekend. Toledo last faced Youngstown State on April 9, 2024 in Youngstown, with the Rockets winning 18-8 in seven innings.Â
Akron (7-20, 1-11 MAC) lost a midweek tilt against Oakland and dropped 2-of-3 games against Ball State last weekend. The Zips go on the road to take on Dayton in a midweek matchup before the weekend series at Toledo. Toledo and Akron last met on March 9, 2024, with Toledo winning 6-5.
