Toledo Heads to High Point for Weekend Series with Panthers

Rockets are coming off victory over No. 12 Oregon in opening series

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team hits the road this weekend, heading to High Point for a three-game series at Williard Stadium in High Point. First pitch is at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, 1:00 on Sunday, and noon on Monday. Sunday and Monday's games will air on ESPN+.

Toledo is 1-3 so far this season, picking up a 5-3 victory over No. 12 Oregon on Saturday, Feb. 15 in the first game of a doubleheader.

High Point is off to a 5-0 start to the 2025 season, with wins over New Jersey Institute of Technology and Appalachian State.

Toledo leads High Point 3-1 all-time with the Rockets winning the last meeting 12-6 on Feb. 27, 2022.

Leading Off

Toledo's win over No. 12 Oregon on Saturday marks the highest-ever ranked opponent victory in program history, and its first victory over a ranked opponent since 2015 at then-No. 25 Notre Dame.
Luke Walton also made SportsCenter during the series, with his diving catch on Saturday making the #6 play on SC Top 10.
High Point is the only Big South Conference opponent on Toledo's schedule this year.
Toledo is playing a second-straight opponent that reached the 2024 NCAA Regionals.

Rocket Hitting Notes

Troy Sudbrook led Toledo hitters with four hits, a double, and two RBIs over the weekend.
In Friday's opener, Tre Mariano plated the Rockets' first run with a solo home run. The long ball was the third of his career.
In Saturday's win, TSudbrook had two hits and two RBIs, while Cole Cahill added two RBIs of his own.
Toledo drew 13 walks and hit three doubles over the weekend.

On the Mound and In the Field

Junior RJ Shunck was named MAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday. He threw five scoreless innings with just four hits allowed and no walks in the 5-3 victory over No. 12 Oregon.
Logan Jones pitched 3.1 innings, struck out four batters, and picked up a save across two appearances last weekend.
In Saturday's win, Logan Danzeisen pitched 1.2 scoreless innings and allowed just one hit, keeping the Rockets in the lead at the time
In Friday's game, Jacob Tabor started and pitched 3.2 innings, allowing just one run and striking out four.
