TOLEDO, Ohio – Senior
Hanamichi Carvajal clinched the win for the Toledo men's tennis team as the Rockets snapped a three-match losing streak with a 5-2 victory over Northwestern Ohio at Shadow Valley Tennis Club.
Northwestern Ohio (3-3) claimed the doubles victory to take an early 1-0 lead over the Rockets. The Racers posted wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles courts. The No. 3 doubles court went unfinished with
Eli Wiblin and
Matias Olivero leading by a 6-5 margin.
Toledo (3-4) responded by claiming five consecutive singles courts to clinch the match.
Charlie Snow defeated Nils Messin on the No. 6 court in straight sets. On the No. 2 court,
Poonthong Komolpisut put the Rockets ahead with a 6-3, 6-3 win.
Joshua Mackey grabbed a 6-1, 7-6 (10-8) win on the No. 5 court for a 3-1 lead.
Carvajal clinched the victory with a straight-set win on the No. 1 court.
Cole Cozens recorded a three-set victory on the No. 3 court to put the Rockets ahead 5-1, while
Lucas Britez fell in straight sets on the No. 4 court.
UP NEXT
Toledo will remain home for two matches on Saturday, Feb. 22 against Cleveland State (2-5) at 1:00 p.m. and Eastern Illinois (2-9) at 7:00 p.m. at Shadow Valley Tennis Club.
