TOLEDO, Ohio – Reigning Mid-American Conference Champions the Toledo women's tennis team capped its historic 2023-24 season by tying a program-best No. 7 team ranking in the Midwest Region of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) year-end Division I Collegiate Tennis Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point. Additionally, three-time MAC Player of the Year Cassie Alcala was ranked No. 20 among all Midwest Regional singles players.

The Rockets also finished No. 7 in last year's final ranking after claiming the program's first Mid-American Conference regular season championship and etching a perfect 10-0 conference record. Alcala remained on the Midwest Regional ranking for a second year, following a No. 16 ranking a season ago.

Toledo made history this season by defending its MAC regular season title, claiming the program's ever MAC Championship Tournament title, and competing at the NCAA Tournament for the first time. The Rockets compiled an 18-6 record with a 9-1 league record. UT went head-to-head with No. 8 DePaul during its home Rocket Indoor Invitational during the fall portion of this season, traveled to No. 10 Michigan State during its non-conference stay, and ended its season with No. 2 Ohio State at the NCAA Tournament.

Alcala, a 2024 MAC All-Tournament selection and the tournament MVP, delivered the clinching point in the 4-1 win over Miami for the conference tournament title, which also was career win No. 100 for the Rockets' No. 1 player. This season, she set the program record for career singles wins (100) and career combined wins at 177.
