Rockets Defeated by Miami to Close Homestand

Early deficit proves to be too much for Toledo to overcome

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team suffered a 10-2 defeat to Miami to close a seven-game homestand at Scott Park on Sunday.

Toledo (19-21, 12-9 MAC) was swept for the first time this season while the RedHawks (18-19, 11-10 MAC) picked up their fourth straight win.

Toledo received two-hit efforts from senior Owen Jackson and freshman JP Wagner. Jackson reached base in all five of his plate appearances on the afternoon. Juniors Brayden White and Caden Konczak each recorded RBIs, while junior Garret Pike and freshman Luke Walton each scored a run.

Sophomore Jackson Bergman (1-4) started and went 4.2 innings, allowing six runs (four earned) and striking out five. UT brought in four different relief pitchers: freshman Jacob Tabor, junior Brennan McCune and seniors Kyle Music and Kyle Pijaszek. Music pitched the longest in relief, covering 2.0 scoreless innings on one hit and three strikeouts.

UT will begin a road trip with a matchup against Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday, April 24, with first pitch at 3:00 p.m. Toledo will return to conference action against Ohio April 26-28 in Athens.
