TOLEDO, Ohio – Fifth-year senior
Sloane Teske came from behind to clinch match point and help the Toledo women's tennis team post a 5-2 victory over Duquesne on Friday afternoon. The win kept the Rockets undefeated at home this season and gave UT its ninth straight victory on its home court.
"It was a great team win," Head Coach
Tracy Mauntler said. "We are battling some injuries, so I think getting everyone in our lineup and grinding through some of these matches will make us better in the long run."
After Toledo won the doubles point, freshman
Jone Ibanez and senior
Shalini Tallamraju swept the No. 6 and No. 4 courts, respectively, to set up match point for the Rockets. Teske fell 6-3 in her opening set, but blanked Jasa Roka, 6-0, in the second set and clinched the win for UT with a 6-2 win in the third set. Junior
Audrey Moutama earned the last individual victory for the Rockets from the No. 5 court.
Duquesne posted its first win of the afternoon with a two-set win from the No. 2 court and ended the match with a three-set victory on the top court.
Toledo (5-3) will be back on Sunday when it hosts Youngstown State at 1:00 p.m. in its final non-conference home match this year.
