TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's soccer team could not find the back of the net against Bowling Green, falling 2-0 in the Battle of I-75 and Mid-American Conference opener for both teams at Paul Hotmer Field on Thursday.
Bowling Green scored a goal just two minutes after kickoff and took its 1-0 lead into halftime. The Falcons made it 2-0 off a penalty kick at the 62nd-minute mark. Toledo kept on the pressure but could not get a shot past BG's keeper in the final stretch of the game.
"We had some really good moments," head coach
Mark Batman said. "We gave up two very preventable goals that changed the game for us. We need to go through games like this to really see who we are and where this group can go. We have so much faith in this group, and we know they'll respond well on Sunday. We have a lot of soccer left to play."
