Barend Botha Tied for Ninth Place After 36 Holes of VCU Shootout

Senior plays first 36 holes at six-under par after firing pair of under-par rounds

RICHMOND, Va. – Senior Barend Botha fired a pair of under-par rounds to lead the Toledo men's golf team on Monday at the VCU Shootout. The Rockets are tied for ninth place in the team standings at six-under par 570 on the par-72, 6,927-yard CCV Tuckahoe Creek Course.

Botha is tied for ninth place individually at six-under par 138 after registering a team-high eight birdies and an eagle. He carded a four-under par 68 in his morning round and followed it with a two-under par 70 in the afternoon.

Senior NJ Botha is tied for 30th place at two-under par 142 (70-72) after finishing his day with three birdies in his final five holes. Senior Jamie Tofte Nielsen is a shot back at one-under par 143 (73-70) and tied for 40th place.

Senior Palmer Yenrick is tied for 61st place at three-over par 147 (74-73), while junior Jamie Butler is tied for 82nd place at 11-over par 155 (79-76).

James Madison is leading the tournament with a 27-under par 549.

The final round of the tournament will begin tomorrow morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
