
Toledo Heading to East Coast for VCU Shootout

Rockets will compete in 54-hole event on Monday and Tuesday
TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's golf team is heading to the East Coast early next week to compete in the 17th-annual VCU Shootout in its second tournament of the season. The Rockets will be competing at the par-72, 6,927-yard Country Club of Virginia's Tuckahoe Creek Course in Richmond, Va. on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 18-19.
The tournament will consist of 54 holes. An 8:30 a.m. shotgun start will be utilized on both days with 36 holes being played on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
The Field
Toledo is a part of a 15-team field that includes Appalachian State, Boston College, Campbell, Charleston Southern, Davidson, FAU, George Washington, James Madison, Lipscomb, Northern Illinois, Richmond, Stetson, Wright State, and host VCU.
Last Time Out
Senior Barend Botha led the Rockets in their first tournament of the season last weekend with a one-under par 209 (70-70-69) en route to a 17th-place tie at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate. Senior Jamie Tofte Nielsen tied for 37th place at six-over par 216 (74-73-69).
Toledo finished in 10th place against a field filled with some of the top programs in the country. UT finished the event strong, shooting a one-under par 279 in the final round with three Rockets carding one-under par 69s.

Toledo will return to action in three weeks when it travels to Jonesborough, Tenn. for the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Sunday-Tuesday, Oct 8-10.
