Cassie Alcala continues to build her craft and show why she is a two-time MAC Player of the Year, as she emerged victorious in the ITA Summer Circuit women's open singles draw of the ITA Tennis-Point Summer Circuit Powered by WTN hosted by Cracked
Racquets over the weekend.
Alcala cruised past three tough Division I opponents to win the tournament.
Alcala received a bye in the Round of 16 before she took the court vs. Northern Kentucky's Ashlee Fisk and came out victorious in a close two-set decision (6-4, 7-6(4)). In the semifinals, Alcala defeated Liberty's Sadie Daavettilla in another two-set decision (6-4, 6-2).
In the finals, Alcala won her first set 6-1 vs. Rhode Island's Sophie Herrman, and was ahead in the second set 1-0, when she won the match by injury default to bring home the summer hardware.
