TOLEDO, Ohio - Head Men's Golf Coach Jeff Roope announced on Thursday that CJ van Wyk (George, South Africa) is going to be transferring to the University of Toledo after playing the last two seasons at Augusta University.

"We are so thrilled to have CJ join us next year!" Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "CJ is a tremendous player who comes from an accomplished golf family, with one brother playing at Georgia now and the other just finishing his career at Coastal Carolina. He still needs to finish up his current season with Augusta at the NCAA regionals where he'll be playing at Auburn in a week or so. We are just over the moon thrilled to have someone of CJ's personality and skill set join the Rockets!"

Roope also said that van Wyk has a bond with current Rockets Barend Botha and NJ Botha which will help him make his transition to the Glass City.

"CJ is a great friend to the Botha brothers, having grown up with them in South Africa," Roope said. "I can't envision a better fit for both our program and CJ for his last two years than to chase a MAC title with his good friends starting next season."

van Wyk registered a 72.9 stroke average in five tournaments this season, including a runner-up showing at the Bearcat Fall Invitational (Sept. 12-13) with a five-under par 211. He shot under par in six of his 15 rounds and posted another five-under par 211 en route to tying for 24th place at the Dorado Beach Collegiate (Feb. 26-28).

As a freshman, van Wyk registered a 75.0 average in seven tournaments and posted par or better scores on five occasions.
