Erin Hunt tossed a four-hit shutout for Toledo in a 5-0 victory at Ball State in the first of two games on Saturday. The Rockets fell 6-1 in the nightcap but took two of the three games to win the series vs. the Cardinals.

Jessica Bracamonte said. "Overall, I thought we competed well and am proud of how we approached the series. We need to use the positives to build and take what we could do better and make adjustments. Another tough series coming up but as long as we play Toledo softball, I feel good about where we're at."
Hunt struck out nine batters in the opener to record her fifth shutout of the season and 15
th of her career. Toeldo broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning on back-to-back RBI doubles from
Sidney Griffith and
Anna Dixon, and a two-run single from
Riley Mohr to take a 4-0 lead.Â
Jenna Kroll homered in the seventh inning, her sixth of the season and 17
th of her career, moving her in the No. 8 spot on Toledo's career record book.
BSU took the lead in Game 2 with two runs in the third inning and four more in the fifth built up to a 6-0 lead. Toledo avoided the shutout with one run in the seventh.
Toledo (13-19, 6-8 MAC) be head back home at Scott Park on Tuesday-Wednesday, April 11-12 for three games with Central Michigan. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Game 1 – Toledo 5, Ball State 0
- Erin Hunt struck out the first Ball State batter, accounting for her 100th strikeout of the season.
- The Cardinals loaded the bases in the third with two outs, but Hunt got out of the jam with another strikeout to keep the game scoreless.
- Rockets broke out in the fifth with back-to-back RBI doubles from Sidney Griffith and Anna Dixon, and a two-run single from Riley Mohr to take a 4-0 lead.
- BSU had runners on first and second with one out in the sixth, and the Rockets made a huge double play to end the inning.
- Jenna Kroll sent one out of the park to push Toledo ahead 5-0 in the seventh.
Game 2 – Ball State 6, Toledo 1
- Ball State took the lead on a solo homer and an RBI single in the bottom of the third.
- Pinch runner Arika Reed tried to tag up and score on a fly out but was thrown out at the plate.
- BSU scored off a sacrifice fly and a three-run bomb to left field in the fifth to push ahead 6-0.
- The Rockets loaded the bases with two outs but failed to score.
- Toledo scored one run in the seventh to break up the shutout.
