TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo softball team pounded out 12 hits to back up another strong pitching performance by senior
Erin Hunt to defeat Central Michigan 5-1Â at Scott Park on Tuesday afternoon in the opener of a three-game series.
The win improved the Rockets to 14-19, 7-8 in Mid-American Conference play, while Central Michigan fell to 16-19, 6-6 MAC.
"I am really proud of our team," head coach
Jessica Bracamonte said. "Outstanding performance in the circle against a good hitting team and an impressive showing by our offense against a good pitcher. We prepared, decided what our plan of attack would be, and executed it on both sides of the ball. We didn't try to do too much, just kept chipping away each inning and got the job done. Tomorrow is a new day, so we have to reset and commit to playing Toledo softball for two more games."
Anna Dixon led the hit parade for the Rockets, going 3-for-3 with one run scored.
Macey Moore went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
