TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team opened its weekend series vs. Ohio on Friday with a 6-0 setback at Scott Park.
The Rockets' (14-14, 6-7 MAC) bats were stifled all day long by Ohio (11-15, 9-4 MAC) starting pitcher Luke Olson, who threw a two-hit complete game shutout in the series opener.
Both offenses struggled in the early going as Olson and junior Noah Johnson sent down the first six batters they faced in order. Ohio got on the scoreboard with a four-run third to take the lead, while Olson continued to work his way through the Toledo lineup with relative ease.
Sophomore Brayden White and freshman Troy Sudbrook were the only two Rockets to get into the hit column on Friday.
Johnson threw 6.0 innings and struck out four Bobcat hitters. Sophomore Patrick Dillon pitched the final three innings and also struck out four, both of which are career-high totals for the Findlay, Ohio hurler.
The Rockets and Bobcats will battle again on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Scott Park. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3 and televised locally on BCSN.
