KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Toledo women's golf team sits in seventh place in a jam-packed leaderboard following Friday's opening round of the 2023 Mid-American Conference Championships. The Rockets are just seven strokes out of second place after shooting a team score of 22-over par 310 at the par-72, 6,011-yard Kalamazoo Country Club.
"We weren't at our best today and simply let a few situations get the better of us," Head Coach
Jenny Coluccio said. "Tomorrow is a new day, and we are ready to tee it up again.
Sophomore
Yedam Lee is leading UT at three-over par 75 and is tied for 12
th place. She birdied No. 16 to get to one-over par but then double-bogeyed No. 17 to finish her round at three-over par.
Junior
Macy Hanus tied for 22
nd place at five-over par 77, junior
Angel Hii is tied for 27
th place at six-over par 78, and senior
Amelia Lee is tied for 33
rd place at eight-over par 80.
Junior
Cheryl Hong rounded out the Rockets' lineup tied for 45
th place at 14-over par 86.
Kent State is leading the 10-team field at three-over par 291, 12 shots in front of host Western Michigan (303). Bowling Green's Kayla Davis leads all individuals with a two-under par 70, one shot ahead of Central Michigan's Casilda Allendesalazar.
Toledo's tee times for tomorrow's second round will begin at 10:20 a.m.
