Rockets Roar Past Falcons 6-1 for Sixth-Straight Win

Toledo remains perfect in conference play at 5-0 with win over Bowling Green

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team won the annual Battle of I-75 presented by Cooper Tires on Sunday afternoon vs. Bowling Green in a 6-1 decision. The win marked the sixth-straight for head coach Tracy Mauntler and her team and kept the Rockets as the Mid-American Conference's only undefeated team with a 14-3 overall and 5-0 conference record.

"We played some ugly doubles to start, but this squad always finds a way to get it done," Mauntler said. "The singles play was a different story, as we dominated from start to finish. I am proud of the way this team keeps getting better every week."

For the seventh consecutive match this season, Toledo took a commanding 1-0 match lead by winning the doubles team point. The Rockets took care of business, winning five of the six singles courts in two sets. Cassie Alcala's win from the No. 1 court secured her sixth-straight victory and 11th-consecutive conference win dating back to last April.

Also recording their sixth-straight individual wins were Shalini Tallamraju at the No. 3 court and Sanjana Tallamraju at the No. 4 court. Sloane Teske defended the No. 2 court for the fifth-straight match this season and won her eighth-consecutive conference match dating back to last season. Julia Kuszynski was victorious from the No. 5 court, picking up her second victory in three days.

Bowling Green's one team point came from a two-set victory at the No. 6 court.

Toledo's next match will be against Miami on Friday, April 7. The contest will either be played at Twos Athletic Club or the UT Varsity Tennis Courts depending on the weather.
