Junior Barend Botha tied for fourth place at two-over par

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Toledo men's golf team sits in third place after battling cold and windy conditions during Monday's opening two rounds of the RedHawk Intercollegiate. The Rockets shot a 20-over par 588 at the par-71, 6,827-yard Pittsburgh Field Club and are 11 strokes behind tournament leader Marquette (577).

Junior Barend Botha paced UT with a two-over par 144 (71-73) and is tied for fourth place and just three strokes out of the lead. Botha was two-under par with three holes remaining in Round Two but registered a triple-bogey on No. 16 and a bogey on No. 18.

Senior Palmer Yenrick is three strokes behind Botha and tied for 17th place at five-over par 147 (72-75).

The remainder of the Rockets' lineup included sophomore Jamie Butler (T-30th/75-74=149), senior NJ Botha (T-35th/73-77=150) and junior Jamie Tofte Nielsen (64th/81-75=156).

Freshman Mason Deal is competing as an individual and tied for 11th place after carding two-over par 73's in both rounds.

The third and final round will begin tomorrow morning.
