Toledo Heading to Pittsburgh for RedHawk Intercollegiate Next Week

Fifty-four hole tournament will be Rockets' final tuneup for MAC Championships
TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's golf team will receive its final tuneup for the 2023 Mid-American Conference Championships next week when it travels to Pittsburgh, Pa. for Miami's RedHawk Intercollegiate on Monday-Tuesday, April 17-18. The 54-hole tournament will be held at the par-71, 6,827-yard Pittsburgh Field Club.
Junior Barend Botha leads the Rockets with a career-low 70.3 stroke average and is followed by senior NJ Botha (73.3), senior Palmer Yenrick (73.3) and junior Jamie Tofte Nielsen (73.4). Sophomore Jamie Butler will also be competing in the Rockets' lineup in the tournament with freshman Mason Deal participating as an individual.
The Field
The Rockets will be competing against a 14-team field that includes Bowling Green, Bucknell, Eastern Kentucky, Dayton, George Washington, Loyola (Md.), Marquette, Minnesota, North Dakota State, Oakland, Ohio, Richmond, and the host RedHawks.
Last Time Out
Toledo's last scheduled tournament at North Carolina State's Stitch Intercollegiate on April 7-8 was canceled due to inclement weather. In the Rockets' last tournament, junior Barend Botha won his first collegiate tournament at UNCW's Seahawk Intercollegiate on March 27 with a record-tying performance. He tied Toledo's 54-hole record with a career-low 12-under par 204 that was established nearly 20 years ago by UT Hall of Famer and All-American Brad Heaven.
