TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo softball team rallied against Bowling Green on Sunday evening in the series finale of the Battle of I-75 presented by Cooper Tires, but fell 9-8 in the Total Sports-Rossford Dome on Sunday. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Rockets' (9-12, 2-1 MAC) who won both ends of a doubleheader vs. the Falcons on Friday.
Riley Mohr led the Rockets' offense, going 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs.Â
Erin Hunt went 3.0 innings on the mound, giving up seven runs for the loss.
Sophia Knight appeared in the mound for the final 4.0 innings, striking four batters.
Toledo opened the game with a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the first, but that would be the Rockets' only advantage of the game. Bowling Green had a five-run second inning to take the lead and it never relinquished. The Rockets trailed 8-4 in the fourth when Mohr hit a huge three-run homer over the center field fence to get within one to the visitors, 8-7. The Falcons scored once more in the fifth, and the Rockets rallied with one run in the seventh but could not close the gap.
