ORLANDO, Fla. – The Toledo softball team split its second day at the UCF Invitational on Saturday in Orlando, Fla. The Rockets opened the day with a 4-0 shutout vs. North Dakota before falling 9-1 to UCF.

Erin Hunt went the distance in the win over North Dakota, giving up two hits and striking out six. Senior

Leah Tipple had two hits and an RBI to lead the Rocket offense. Toledo took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when
Dixon scored on a fielding error. The Rockets scored another unearned run in the third and tacked on two more insurance runs in the fourth. The Fighting Hawks had two runners on in the top of the seventh with two outs, but Hunt induced Cassie Casts to fly out to end the rally secure her third shutout of the season.
In the second game, tournament host UCF held a 6-0 lead through five winnings before junior
Jenna Kroll hit a solo homer above the center field wall in the top of the sixth to trim the margin to 6-1. Kroll's homer was her third this season and 14th of her career, tying Bailey Curry (2018) for eighth on Toledo's career list. UCF added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Freshman
Madison McKay took the loss in 2.0 innings on the mound, allowing up three hits and one run.
Toledo (6-11) will play one final game in Florida tomorrow vs. Kennesaw State at 11:00 a.m.
Game 1 – Toledo 4, North Dakota 0
- Anna Dixon stole third base and scored the first run of the game on a fielding error in the bottom of the first.
- Sidney Griffith stole home on a double steal attempt to put Toledo ahead 2-0 in the third.
- Leah Tipple hit an RBI double to left center and Lily Beyer followed with an RBI single to right field to push Toledo ahead 4-0 in the fourth.
- The Knights had runners at first and second base with two outs, but a fly out to left field ended the rally.
Game 2 – UCF 9, Toledo 1
- UCF's Jasmine Williams hit a solo homer in her first at-bat of the afternoon, to make it a 1-0 game.
- Chloe Evans hit a three-run dinger to push the Knights ahead 4-0 in the third.
- UCF scored two more runs in the fifth with a two-run single to go ahead 6-0.
- Jenna Kroll smacked a solo home run to center field to put Toledo on the board, 6-1, in the sixth.
- UCF scored three more runs in the sixth off a fielding error, an RBI single, and bases-loaded walk to add to their margin.
