Miami Rallies Past Toledo, 2-1

RedHawks net game-winning goal with two minutes remaining

OXFORD, Ohio – Sophomore Kaema Amachree's goal gave the Toledo women's soccer team a 1-0 halftime lead, but Miami responded with two goals in the second half to push past the Rockets, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Bobby Kramig Field.

Amachree provided the Rockets a 1-0 advantage when she took a pass from senior Grace Turski and scored on the Rockets' first shot of the afternoon at the 15:22 mark. UT took that 1-0 lead into halftime.

Miami responded with a goal in the 51st minute to tie the game at 1-1 and netted the game-winner with two minutes to play. The Rockets tried to rally but couldn't get a shot off for the remainder of the contest.

The defeat leaves the Rockets tied for fifth place in the conference standings with Northern Illinois (6-6-3, 4-3-1 MAC). The top six teams in the conference qualify for the MAC Tournament that begins on Sunday, Oct. 29.

  • 15' | Sophomore Kaema Amachree took a pass from senior Grace Turski near the right post and lofted the ball to the top left corner to put Toledo on the board 1-0.  
  • 34' | Makenna Morrison had an open-net opportunity to score for Miami, but Brielle Young scrambled back to her feet and grabbed the ball to keep the Rockets in the lead.
  • 51' | Miami tied the game at 1-1 from a goal by Camber Hayes from 18 yards out.
  • 55' | Julia Hoffman tried to give the RedHawks the lead, but Young leaped to make a save by punching the ball away.
  • 88' | Miami took the lead, 2-1, on Taylor Hamlett's shot to the top left corner of the net.

  • Amachree scored her fifth goal of the season and has scored three times in her last four games. She led UT's offense with three shots.
