Toledo Enters Thick of Conference Action, Hosts Eastern Michigan on Thursday, Heads to Miami on Sunday

Rockets tied for fifth in the Mid-American Conference standings

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's soccer team heads into the ninth week of the season in the thick of the battle for a spot in the Mid-American Conference Tournament. The Rockets, tied for the No. 5 spot in the conference standings, host Eastern Michigan this Thursday, Oct. 12 before heading down to Oxford to play Miami on Sunday, Oct. 15.

The top six team qualify for the MAC Tournament, which begins on Sunday, Oct. 29 and culminates with the championship match on Sunday, Nov. 5.

Last Time Out
Toledo extended its winning streak to a season-high three games after blanking Ohio (1-0) on the road and Akron (3-0) at home last week. Senior Grace Turski set up a season-high two assists vs. the Zips, which ties senior Madison Medalle for second-most in a match by a Rocket this season. Redshirt Freshman Brielle Young made 10 saves between both contests to secure her fourth and fifth shutouts (four solo and one combined) of the season. She earned MAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors for her efforts.

UT ranks third in the league with 21 goals scored and averages 1.615 goals per game. Medalle has six goals this season (fourth in MAC) and Turski's team-high four assists rank fourth in the league. Young tops all conference goalkeepers with 55 saves and a .821 save percentage.

Scouting the Competition
Eastern Michigan (1-7-6, 1-3-2 MAC) is on a five-game skid since opening league play with a win vs. Central Michigan on Sept. 21. Megan Lukowski leads the Eagles with five goals (fifth in MAC), while Ella Holland is second among conference keepers with an average of 4.92 saves per game.

Miami (4-9-1, 1-5-0 MAC) is coming off back-to-back losses last weekend. Taylor Hamlett leads all offensive categories for the RedHawks and is responsible for three of Miami's eight goals this season. Miami's Dominique Popa has started all 12 games in net and has a 0.712 save percentage.

Toledo leads 17-13-2 all-time vs. Eastern Michigan, and 14-11-2 all-time against Miami.
