TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo softball team opened its first game of a three-game series vs. Buffalo, falling to the Bulls 13-3 in five innings at Scott Park on Friday. The Rockets fell behind early, regained some momentum with a rally in the third inning but could not recover from the deficit.
Buffalo opened the game with two three-run homers in the first inning by Alexis Lucyshyn and Olivia Kincanon. The Bulls added three more runs in the second inning and two in the third before the Rockets got on the board in their half of the third.
Dayna Denner smacked a two-run RBI double with no outs to cut the score to 11-2. Two batters later, Denner crossed home on a Buffalo error to make it an 11-3 game. However, the Bulls' Briana Castro hit a two-run double in the fourth, and held the Rockets did not score in the fourth or fifth, giving Buffalo the five-inning run-rule victory.
The Rockets will be back for a doubleheader with the Bulls tomorrow, with Game One scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

- Buffalo's Alexis Lucyshyn hit a three-run homer to put the visitors up 3-0 in the first with one out. Three batters later, Olivia Kincanon hit a three-run dinger to increase the lead to 6-0.
- Bulls added three runs in the second to extend the lead 9-0 off an RBI single, a sacrifice fly and a fielder's choice.
- Dayna Denner hit a two-run double, her fifth of the season. She later crossed home on an error by Buffalo, to make the score 11-3 in the third.
- UB's Brianna Castro hit a two-run double in the fourth to make the score 13-3 with two outs.
- Both teams went three-up, three-down in the fifth, and the game ended in favor of Buffalo by run-rule.
