KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Toledo men's tennis wrapped the weekend with a 5-2 setback to Western Michigan on Sunday in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Western Michigan took an early lead by winning the doubles point with victories on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts.
Marko Galic and
Pawit Sornlaksup were trailing 3-4 on the No. 1 court to Fynn Lohse/ Arjun Honnappa (WMU) before the match was ruled unfinished.
Sornlaksup tied the match 1-1 with his two-set win over Peter Kuszynski on the No. 1 court. Senior
Cole Shoults got the second point for the Rockets with a huge three-set victory on the No. 4 court, 7-6(6), 5-7, 7-6(4). Juniors
Luka Jankovic and
Marko Galic each won the first set on their respective courts, but were ultimately defeated in the third-set.
"Today we had some chances, actually we had a lot of chances," head coach
Al Wermer said. "It just wasn't quite enough."
Toledo (8-6, 1-1 MAC), which opened the MAC season with a victory at Northern Illinois on Friday, will be at home for its next three matches, beginning with a battle vs. Ball State at Shadow Valley Tennis Club on Saturday, March 19 at 2:00 p.m.
