TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's cross country made the largest jump in the national rankings this week after its performance at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational last weekend. The Rocketswent from receiving votes to the No. 16 spot, the second-highest ranking in program history, in the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll that was announced on Tuesday.
Head women's coach
Andrea Grove-McDonough's team had been receiving votes in the national rankings every week since preseason voting started on Aug. 31. This puts the Rockets ahead of the rest of the Big Ten Conference, the highest ranking program being No. 17 Wisconsin, No. 22 Ohio State, No. 23 Michigan State, No. 26 Michigan, and No. 29 Northwestern.
The men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action this week at Wayne State's Warrior Challenge on Saturday, Oct. 22. The Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Athens Ohio.
