Toledo Remains Perfect at Home with 1-0 Win Over Indiana State

TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo bested Indiana State in a 1-0 final score Friday night (Sept. 10) at Paul Hotmer Field. Senior Claire Cahalan logged the game-winning shot for the Rockets, the first score of her collegiate career.

Sophomore Emma Boutorwick tallied yet another shutout in goal for the Rockets, her third straight and fifth overall of the season.

"I am proud that our team found a way to break through Indiana State's stingy defense," said Head Coach T.J. Buchholz. "We had good chances throughout the game, but they came up with some big defensive plays. We weren't able to break through in the run of play, but Claire helped us secure the win with a tremendous free kick. We needed someone to break through tonight and it was Claire's turn to rise to the occasion. It is nice that we continue to have different players step up offensively in games. Defensively, our team continues to play really well. We again got the shutout and out back line and Emma had another outstanding performance for 90 minutes. To only give up two goals in our first six games is a significant accomplishment. We will have to bounce back quickly this weekend to be ready for a very strong Illinois team on Sunday."

Goals and Key Moments
  • 18' | Freshman Olivia Dault logged the first shot of the game as the Indiana State goalkeeper, Maddie Alexander, stopped the attempt.
