BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University of Toledo women's tennis team visited Buffalo on Tuesday and left with a 5-2 win over the Bulls, the program's first win at UB since 2012.

"So incredibly proud of the fight in this team," head coach Tracy Mauntler said. 'They were locked in from the beginning of the doubles point through the very end. We won all three matches that went three sets which says a lot about the shape these players are in right now as well as how much heart they have."

Toledo started off the day by winning the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Freshman Cassie Alcala and sophomore Sloane Teske captured the first win, defeating their UB opponents on the top doubles court. Freshmen Julia Kuszynski and Ava McQuillin teamed up for a win on the No. 3 court to clinch the doubles point.

UB won the first singles match to get on the board, but Kuszynski defeated her Buffalo counterpart on the No. 3 court to put Toledo back on top. The Bulls captured the match on the No. 4 court to tie the score once again, until Teske's three-set win on the No. 2 singles court put the Rockets ahead 3-2 and one victory away from clinching the match.

After losing the first set on the No. 1 court, Alcala came back to win the next two and record the fourth and clinching point for the Rockets. Freshman Shalini Tallamraju capped the day with a comeback win on the No. 6 singles court for good measure.

Toledo returns home this weekend to host Western Michigan on Friday and Eastern Michigan on Sunday. Both matches are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. starts.
