TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's tennis team won its seventh straight match on Friday, taking down Buffalo 4-3 at home. The Rockets are now 13-7 overall and 9-3 in Mid-American Conference play.

"We played some flawless doubles today to get things started off with some fire," head coach Tracy Mauntler said. "Buffalo battled like they always do but we stepped up during the big moments in the singles."

The Rockets cruised to 6-1 victories on the No. 1 and 2 doubles courts to take the point and a 1-0 lead in the match. Freshman Cassie Alcala and sophomore Sloane Teske won first on the top court, then sophomore Laura Morera and senior Patricia Panta won on the second court to give their team the early lead.

Toledo won the first two singles matches to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the match. Teske won decisively in two sets on the No. 2 court and Panta won in three sets on the No. 4 court to put UT on the brink of victory. The Bulls battled back though, earning two tough victories on the No. 1 and 3 singles courts to make it 3-2. Playing on the No. 5 court, freshman Shalini Tallamraju provided Toledo with the clinching win in a 4-3 victory for the second straight match, winning sets two and three over her UB opponent to hand the Rockets the match.

Toledo will visit Western Michigan next Friday, April 30 at 1:00 p.m. before hosting first-place Ball State in a showdown of the top two teams in the MAC on Sunday, May 2 at 1:00 p.m.
