KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The University of Toledo women's tennis team extended its winning streak to eight matches on Friday with a come-from-behind 4-3 win over Western Michigan in Kalamazoo.

"This team is a group of fighters," head coach Tracy Mauntler said. "To come back after being down 1-3 says so much about my team. They have so much confidence in each other and they fight so hard for their teammates."

Western Michigan started the match off by winning the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. Freshman Cassie Alcala and sophomore Sloane Teske were victorious on the No. 1 doubles court, but WMU won on courts No. 2 and 3 to claim the point. Toledo's top doubles team is now 10-2 on the year.

Alcala tied the match at 1-1 with a victory on the top singles court, improving to 17-4 on the season with her win on Friday. But Western Michigan was able to win on courts No. 2 and 6 to take a 3-1 lead in the match and push the Rockets to the brink. Senior Patricia Panta made it 3-2 with a three-set victory on the No. 4 court, then freshman Shalini Tallamraju tied the match with her own three-set triumph on the No. 5 court. It all came down to freshman Julia Kuszynski on the No. 3 court. After dropping the first set against her WMU counterpart, Kuszynski won the final two sets to help Toledo clinch the comeback victory and keep the winning streak alive.

The Rockets wrap up their season with a home match against first-place Ball State, which has already clinched the MAC Championship That contest will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts.
