TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's tennis team dropped its Friday home match against Buffalo, 5-2, at Shadow Valley.
"It was a pretty grueling roller coaster match for us obviously; we are very evenly matched this year," head coach
Al Wermer said. "It seemed like at key times they played a little more aggressively than we did."
Buffalo started the match with a 1-0 lead after taking the doubles point, winning on courts No. 2 and 3 to secure the early advantage. Singles play was hard-fought battle for both sides, as five of the six matches went three sets. Sophomore
Luis Kleinschnitz was victorious for the Rockets on the No. 6 court, winning the only two-set singles match of the day. Freshman
Wojciech Szczesny overcame a first-set loss and outlasted his opponent in the third set to win on the No. 5 court. The Bulls took victories on the other four singles courts to bring about the 5-2 decision.
Toledo will host Binghamton on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. for its final match of the season. The match will be played at Shadow Valley Tennis Club due to the Glass City Marathon going on near the Toledo campus. Fans interested in watching the match can catch it locally on BCSN2.
