KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The University of Toledo men's tennis team visited the first-place Western Michigan Broncos on Sunday, falling by a score of 5-2.
"This was an extremely intense showdown until the final few minutes," head coach
Al Wermer said. "We know we are just inches from the top of the league."
The Broncos won the doubles point by claiming the matches on courts No. 2 and 3. The Rockets' duo of freshman
Adam Kovac and senior
Thawin Suksathaporn won on the top doubles court, but WMU captued the other two matches to take a 1-0 lead.
Toledo won two of the six singles matches. Sophomore
Krzysztof Wetoszka was victorious on the No. 3 court, and freshman
Wojciech Szczesny won on the No. 5 court. The Broncos were able to win on the other four courts to take the match.
The Rockets return home next weekend for their final two matches of the season. They host Buffalo on Friday, April 23 and welcome Binghamton on Sunday, April 25. The match against the Bearcats will be televised locally on BCSN.
