TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's tennis team dropped its Friday match at Northern Illinois, 6-1.

"Our first hour of play was a nightmare today," head coach Al Wermer said. "But our guys were tenacious after the midpoint of the match."

Northern Illinois started the day off by winning the doubles point, claiming victories on the No. 1 and 3 courts to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The Rockets couldn't find any traction in singles play either, as the Huskies won five of six matches to take a 6-1 decision. Sophomore Krzysztof Wetoszka was the lone victor for Toledo on the afternoon, defeating his NIU counterpart 6-2, 6-1 on the No. 3 court. Wetoszka improves to 9-3 in singles play this season and won his fourth straight match on Friday. He is a perfect 7-0 when playing on the No. 3 court this year.

Toledo visits Western Michigan on Sunday afternoon.
