TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo baseball team opens Mid-American Conference play this weekend with a four-game series at Miami.

The series opens on Friday with a 3:00 p.m. contest, then continues with a Saturday doubleheader featuring two seven-inning games beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by the series finale on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Live Stats for the whole weekend can be found by clicking here, and fans can also follow along on Twitter at @ToledoBaseball for updates.

Last Time Out
Toledo had its final non-conference series before the start of MAC play over the weekend, losing three out of four at Wofford. The Rockets did end the weekend on a high note with a 9-6 win on Sunday.

Layne Schnitz-Paxton provided the Rockets with 5.2 innings out of the bullpen and struck out seven, while Cal McAninch pitched a perfect bottom of the ninth to record his first save of the year.

At the plate, Marcus Strother went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and his first home run of the season. Thomas Eitniear and Mason Sykes both drove in a couple runs, and Chris Meyers reached base in all five of his plate appearances with two hits and three walks.

Quick Hits

Chris Meyers has been one of the best hitters in the MAC the first month of the season. He leads the league in home runs (four) and RBIs (18), is tied for the league lead in hits (18), is second in slugging percentage (.723), and he is seventh in hitting (.383) and on-base percentage (.517)
Meyers has reached base in every game this season and is riding a 15-game on-base streak dating back to last year.
Nicky Winterstein is a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run as a pinch hitter this season. He has reached base in all nine games in which he has appeared this year, and has started each of the last six contests.
John Servello is looking to extend his team-high eight-game hitting streak. Servello has also driven in a run in four of his last five games.

Scouting Miami
The RedHawks are 7-7 entering play this weekend, most recently dropping two out of three at Memphis. Miami ranks second in the league with a 3.60 team ERA, and its pitchers have struck out 129 while walking 40. At the plate, they are tied for second in the league with 11 home runs and rank fourth in the MAC in slugging (.391). The RedHawks have three regulars hitting over .300: Nate Stone (.378), Will Vogelgesang (.345), and Nate Stolze (.302). Vogelgesang has nine extra-base hits and 12 RBIs, both of which lead the team.
