TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's tennis team lost at home on Sunday to Western Michigan, 6-1.
"This was a compelling match," head coach
Al Wermer said, "Our guys were relentless all day long, and seemed almost impossible to put away. I was impressed with our effort today."
Western Michigan won the doubles point, claiming matches on the No. 2 and 3 courts to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Broncos also won five of the six singles matches on Sunday. Senior
Thawin Suksathaporn earned the lone Rocket point of the day, winning a three-set battle on the No. 3 court. WMU won on the other five courts to take the match. Freshman
Wojciech Szczesny pushed his opponent to three sets on the No. 5 court, and junior
Cole Shoults forced a long tiebreak in the second set before falling on the top court.
Toledo visits Ball State next Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
