TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's tennis team lost at home on Friday to Cleveland State, 6-1.
"We definitely saw some growth from a week ago," head coach Al Wermer said. "But we're still finding our way against solid teams like Cleveland State."
The doubles point was hotly contested, but the Vikings won on courts two and three to take the point. CSU won both contests 7-6 and took the tiebreaker on court two, 7-5, and on court three, 7-1.
In singles play, freshman Wojciech Szczesny defeated his Cleveland State counterpart on court No. 6 to hand Toledo its only point of the afternoon. Senior Thawin Suksathaporn and freshman Adam Kovac both won sets against their opponent, but ultimately lost on courts No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Rounding out the singles lineup for the Rockets were junior Cole Shoults on court No. 1, sophomore Krzysztof Wetoszka on the No. 2 court, and sophomore Luis Kleinschnitz on court No. 5.
Toledo's busy weekend continues tomorrow with a home match against Tiffin at 2:00 p.m. before hosting Xavier on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
