Toledo Hosts CMU Thursday Before Trip to EMU Sunday

TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo will look to carry its momentum from Sunday's victory over Ball State into this week's matchups with Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan.

The Rockets (8-4-2, 3-3-0 MAC) will host the Chippewas on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 6:00 p.m. before taking on Eastern Michigan at Scicluna Field for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff on Sunday, Oct. 17.

The Rockets split their most recent MAC matchups, falling to Miami (3-1) before defeating Ball State (2-1) minutes before the end of regulation. The Rockets are allowing a MAC-low 0.71 goals per game. Freshman midfielder Olivia Dault is tied for fifth in the conference with a team-high five goals. Sophomore goalie Emma Boutorwick leads the conference in goal with a 0.69 GGA and is second with a .836 save percentage.

Chippewas Update (7-5-0, 4-2-0 MAC)
Central Michigan extended its winning streak to four games following a last-minute 1-0 win over Buffalo. The Chippewas' four MAC victories have come at home vs. NIU (1-0 in OT) and Akron (3-1) and on the road over WMU (1-0 in 2OT) and Buffalo. Sophomore Jaelyn Dobrowolski paces CMU with one goal, six assists and eight points. Redshirt freshman Gaelle Wells has scored a team-best three goals. Sophomore Allison LaPoint (7-5-0) ranks third in the MAC with a 0.80 GGA and leads the conference in goal with an .853 save percentage. 

Eagles Update (2-9-2, 1-4-1 MAC)
Eastern Michigan is coming off back-to-back losses to Buffalo (2-1) and Akron (2-0). The Eagles will visit defending MAC champion Bowling Green on Thursday prior to hosting the Rockets on Sunday. Junior Madison Olson leads EMU with two goals and four points. Senior Chelsea Abbotts (2-6-0) has posted a 1.71 GAA and 0.770 save percentage in goal. 

Last Week

  • Sophomore Ellie Pool scored the lone goal for the Rockets at Miami, her fourth of the season.
  • Senior Claire Cahalan scored her second goal of the season against BSU to knot the game at 1-1 late in the second half. Junior Stephanie "Stitch" Currie came up with the game-winner, her second this season, three-and-a-half minutes later to finalize the 2-1 outcome.
  • Sophomore Emma Boutorwick faced a season-high 18 shots against BSU and made seven saves.
Rockets in Regional Rankings
  • Toledo ranks ninth in the United Soccer Midwest Region rankings with its 8-4-2 record.
  • Ohio and Buffalo are the other MAC schools ranked No. 6 and No. 8, respectively.
  • TCU is No. 1 and is followed by No. 2 Texas, and No. 3 Baylor. Also ranked ahead of the Rockets are No.4 West Virginia, No.5 Texas Tech, and No.7 Loyola (Chicago).

  • Freshman McKenna Schultz leads the Rockets in minutes played (1,312)
  • Claire Cahalan leads Toledo midfielders with 1,278 minutes.
  • Ellie Pool tops forwards with 1,188 minutes and leads the Rockets with 33 shots. Stitch Currie and Olivia Dault rank second and third, respectively, with 29 and 24 shots.
  • Dault and Pool lead the way with 16 shots on goal each, followed by Currie with 15.
  • Toledo has allowed just three-first half goals this season. The Rockets are outscoring their opposition by a 5-3 margin in the first half, 14-6 margin in the second half, and are even at 1-1 in overtime.

In Goal
Emma Boutorwick has six shutouts through the first 14 games, leads the MAC's goalkeepers and ranks 39th nationally with a 0.869 GAA. Boutorwick was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week each of the first two weeks of the season.
