JT Shumate exploded for a career-high 33 points and set a school record by going 11-of-11 from the field to lead Toledo to a 90-81 wire-to-wire victory at Miami (7-5, 4-3 MAC). The victory was the Rockets' third in a row and improved their record to 14-4 overall and 9-1 in Mid-American Conference play.

Tod Kowalczyk after his team defeated the RedHawks for the 14th game in a row. "Miami is a good team that was coming off three convincing wins last week. That's a good team we beat on the road. We have a lot of guys who can step up for us and it was great to see JT shoot the ball like we know he can."
Shumate broke Casey Shaw's record (11-of-12) for field-goal percentage in a game and is the first Rocket ever to make 10 or more shots without a miss. In addition, his 11 field goals without a miss is the most by a NCAA Division I player this season. Joining Shumate in double digits were redshirt freshman

Marreon Jackson each grabbed a team-high five rebounds to help the Rockets register a 31-24 advantage on the boards. Rollins and Jackson also shared the team lead with six assists apiece.
Shumate's record-setting performance from the field helped Toledo shoot 57.9 percent from the field. He also was 5-of-5 from three-point range as the Rockets knocked down 11-of-23 shots (47.8) from three-point range.
Junior Mekhi Lairy led Miami with 17 points and was one of five RedHawks to score in double digits.
Toledo is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 30 when it visits arch-rival Bowling Green on Saturday, Jan. 30. Tip-off time in the Stroh Center is set for 5:00 p.m. with streaming available on ESPN+.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
- Toledo started strong and took an 11-4 lead in the first three minutes as JT Shumate, Marreon Jackson and Spencer Littleson each knocked down three-point field goals.
- Miami cut its deficit to 15-13 at the 13:24 marÂk following ÂÂfive straight points from Myja White.
- Toledo answered with a 6-0 run on layups from Mattia Acunzo, Shumate and Ryan Rollins.
- The Rockets then gained some separation with a 13-0 spurt to take their largest lead of the night, 43-27, 2:31 before halftime.
- Toledo took a 45-33 lead to the locker room with Shumate (14 pts.) and Acunzo (10 pts.) leading the way.
SECOND HALF
- The Rockets maintained at least a nine-point cushion until the RedHawks scored seven straight points to climb within 69-65 with 6:27 to play.
- Toledo immediately answered with a 10-2 spurt regain a double-digit margin, 79-67, just over two minutes later. Shumate keyed the spurt with eight points.
- The RedHawks rallied to within four points again, cutting Toledo's lead to 79-75 with 2:42 left. Jackson and Rollins responded with layups to put the Rockets ahead, 83-75, with 1:34 to play.
- The closest Miami came the remainder of the contest was within six points.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Toledo enjoyed a 20-6 advantage in second-chance points.
- The Rockets have scored 90 or more points in four MAC games and lead the league with 86.3 ppg in conference games only.
- JT Shumate's 33 points are the most scored by a Rocket this season.
- Ryan Rollins has scored in double digits in 17 of 18 games.
- Marreon Jackson was limited to nine points, marking the first time in 39 games he hasn't scored in double figures.
