Rockets Welcome Oakland to Paul Hotmer Field this Thursday

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's soccer team will welcome Oakland to Paul Hotmer Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Thursday, Sept. 5.

"We are looking forward to playing a very good Oakland team this Thursday," said head coach TJ Buchholz. "We have had a great few days of practice and are anxious to get back on our new field for two games this week."

Following Thursday's match, the Rockets will welcome Wright State to the Glass City on Sunday, Sept. 8 for a 1 p.m. match.

OPENING XI
  • The Rockets have claimed the last three matchups against Oakland, bringing home a 1-0 victory last year. This will be the Grizz's first trip the Glass City since 2015, when the Rockets claimed a 3-1 victory.
  • Sophomore Ashton Cassel scored the game-winner for the Rockets in last year's matchup against Oakland. Cassel's efforts on the field earned her a spot on the MAC All-Freshman Squad last season.
  • Toledo is looking for its first win of the season, falling to IUPUI, Purdue, and UIC in its first three matches. IUPUI and UIC were both one-goal matches.
  • The Rockets' freshmen and sophomores have recorded 23 of the team's 32 shots this season. Freshman Stephanie Currie leads the Rockets with six shots through three games.
  • Sophomore Anita Mancini led the way for the Rockets against UIC, recording three shots on goal through 90 minutes of action.
  • Redshirt-freshman Adrianna Brewer has started each match between the pipes for the Rockets this season, recording 16 saves through three games.
  • Currie has started each game for the Rockets, tying with sophomore Anita Mancini for a team-high three shots on goal.
  • The Rockets have forced their opponents offsides 10 times this season, while only recording four offside violations themselves.
  • The Rockets have yet to be scored on in the second half of a match this season.
  • Seniors Abby Demboski, Rachelle Topolewski, and Olivia Young were named the 2019 team captains.
  • Oakland is coming off of a 2-1 overtime victory over Eastern Kentucky.
