Game 2: Toledo 9, St. John's 8
- Game two of the day was an offensive shootout from start to finish. The Rockets' put the first run up in the first inning thanks to a fielder's choice that took Cozy out, but allowed sophomore Kylie Norwood to score.
- The Midnight Blue and Gold tacked on five more in the next frame thanks to a single from Reed, a triple from freshman Brianna Robeson, a passed ball, and an obstruction call that favored Norwood.
- St. John's began to start their offensive push in the third. Gretchen Bowie earned a walk and stole second to get into scoring position. Marissa Rizzi then singled to bring around Bowie and put one up and make the score 6-1 UT.
- The game opened up in an exciting fourth inning that featured six hits and six runs between the two sides. SJ got it going in the top of the fourth when, with two runners on, Kamryn Tiumalu popped a single to bring one in. Bowie then tripled with the bases loaded to bring the Red Storm within one of the Rockets. A final single brought in Bowie and tied things at six apiece. Toledo answered right away in the bottom of the frame when Cozy hit an RBI double to bring in Norwood.
- UT quickly dealt away St. John's batters in the top of the fifth and retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning. Following a double from sophomore Ami Ill that put her on third, Reed stepped up to bat and crushed one down the middle for her first career home run that made the score 9-6.
- The Red Storm had a final push in the sixth inning that saw Rizzi and Peyton Cody each add one to the board but their efforts weren't enough to best the Rockets.
