Bloomington, Ind. - The Toledo softball team fell to both Northwestern and Saint Francis today as UT closed out Indiana's Hoosier Classic in Boomington, Ind. Toledo put up nine runs on the day and saw an impressive outing from freshman
Aubrey Reed but the bats never got going enough as UT fell 11-2 to NU and 9-6 to SFU.

Game 1
- Northwestern and Toledo got the bats going early with NU's Jordyn Rudd hitting a triple in the second. A walk and stolen base put runners in the scoring position but sophomore pitcher Erin Hunt was able to deal away the threat. Toledo responded by working runners to second and third but the Wildcats were able to stop the scoring threat.
- Scoring opened in the top of the third when Nikki Cuchran homered to right center with two on, putting her side up 3-0. Toledo was able to close the first half of the frame but didn't immediately answer.
- Northwestern continued to push forward in the fifth inning as the Wildcats were able to load the bases and bring in two more off a single from Morgan Newport, making the score 5-0 NU. A fifth inning back-to-back double brought in another for the Wildcats.
- Toledo ended the shutout in the bottom of the sixth when a walk from senior Megan Choate and a double from Cozy put runners in scoring position. A left-side single from sophomore Brittney Davis brought home Choate to set up the rally, and senior catcher Kaitlyn Bergman smacked one to left field to score a second, 6-2. With two on though, freshman Taylor Weekly went down looking to end the scoring chance.
- NU added five more insurance runs in the top of the seventh thanks to three singles, a triple, and a wild pitch to make it 11-2.

Game 2:
Toledo's second game of the day took a full seven innings to settle. Sixteen runs in total were scored between the two sides, and freshman
Aubrey Reed was an offensive stand out as she recorded two hits, scored one run, brought another in and got on for a walk in four at-bats.
- The Red Flash took the lead early, opening scoring in the third inning off a trio of singles. SUF had two runners on when Sierra McKee flew out to center, allowing one to score. With two on, SFU then got two more hits to make the score 3-0.
- Toledo answered in the bottom of the frame when sophomore Bekah Yenrick doubled to right center with sophomore Kylie Norwood and senior Megan Choate, her hit bringing both runners in.
- A big push in the fourth for Saint Francis put up their final six runs. Two errors from Toledo, a triple, a two RBI homer and a final double allowed the Red Flash to take a commanding 9-2 lead. The Rockets didn't waver though, putting up points in the bottom of the fourth thanks to Reed and junior Samantha Golden. Toledo loaded the bases off two walks and a HBP and Reed made the bad guys pay for it with a single up the gut that brought around one. Her effort was followed by a centerfield E8 off Golden that brought in three more.
- SFU and UT held each other at bay from there until the bottom of the seventh. The Rockets scored their final run of the day when a right field fly out from Choate with two on brought one in from third base. Toledo loaded the bases and Reed workde the count full but the effort wasn't enough as she went down swinging to close out the game.
